"I am very pleased to have received any indication from peers and others that some of the work I have done over the past 30 years may have made life a little more bearable for one or more persons.  If this were actually the case wouldn't it be wonderful.  Most folks, I would think, do not mind terribly when others speak well of them.  However, I believe there is always a bit of discomfort let loose from accepting personal accolades, especially from men and women I personally hold in high esteem myself.  And I believe it arises from the fact that I, or anyone, knows the true worth of their endeavor much better than the 'compliment' giver. . .and we are well aware that there has never been a time that we did not fall so very short of what we wished we had been able to accomplish..  Nevertheless, It is rude to refuse graciousness from one's peers and on this page you see what you see because rudeness is something I detest."                                                                                           William Rogers
