Bear's Guide to Alternative Graduate School ["The Authority in the Field" - Wilson Library Bulletin]: 1993

Columbia Pacific University:   "No other non-resident doctorate-granting institution in the United States has a staff with the credentials, reputation, and experience of Columbia Pacific University". Bear’s Guide says the founders and staff of CPUhave, by a wide margin, the most impressive credentials of the people associated with any such school". The school was founded by three senior academics, two of whom were former presidents of regionally accredited American universities.  "I have had more positive, enthusiastic feedback from students and alumni of CPU than from any other school, accredited or not.  At this particular juncture in time, Columbia Pacific University has to be at least considered as one of the very best "on-line" institutions of higher education available today".  [John Bear]

*Due to failing an accreditation oversight visit to CPU campus in 1997, a legal battle followed lasting more than two years.  As a final result the university was ordered to close.   More than 5000 students were in attendance at that time.  "Any students of Columbia Pacific University who received their degrees before fiscal year 1997 will not be negatively affected.   One Hundred percent [100%] of all CPU degrees received before fiscal year 1997 are considered valid and accredited by all relevant California credentialing and/or validating bodies.  [California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education]
